Mission to Divinopolis, Pará, Brazil     September 4-21, 2010

Ministry: New Church Start, Ruropolis, Brazil, on the Trans-Amazon highway approximately 135 miles south of Santarem.  The project was work on construction already begun on a house for the pastors Antonio and Lilian Noguiera da Silva Filho, with foundation work to be ready when we arrived. The Noguieras, whom we visited in 2007, formerly pastored the church at Agua Azul KM 85 and have lived in a rented house in Ruropolis less than a year. The parsonage being constructed is on property purchased earlier and has a building, formerly a wood shop, now being used for a church building.

The building was framed in and part of the foundation work was in place upon arrival.  Trenches were dug and brick laid for partial walls which would be finished in wood. A roof of corrugated fiberglass material was put into place. Additional bricks were delivered but the additional wood previously ordered had not arrived before our departure.  The Amazonia COG district added to the construction funds and salary of Cidikley, the maestro, with whom we worked building the church in Divinopolis in 2007.  We made all the progress we could during the time we were there and understood that the maestro was going to be staying until the house was finished.

Attended services or visited area churches:
